A bit of an electrics numpty needs some help.

I need to wire up a BMW fog light switch but I'm a bit stumped with the 3 connectots. The first pic is the switch, the second is one I found on time net that shows the internals

Can someone help me decipher what goes where?

If I put earth to pin 1 and 12v to pin 3 the bulb in the switch lights if it's is in the 'on' position. But is pin 2 a 12v feed in or the 12v out that goes to the relay?

Thanks in advance

I don't know that particular switch, but they can't all be inputs. My guess is that you have 12v in, ground (so the light in the switch will work) and 12v out. The best thing to do is test it.

Do you have a multimeter? Get a cheap one if you don't and put it between the ground pin and pin 2. You'll probably see 0v with the switch off and 12v with the switch on. If you don't have access to a multimeter, you could also just connect a bulb between the ground pin and pin 2 to check if the bulb lights when you turn on the switch.

Blue wire =earth Has the switch illumination bulb
Purple/yellow= live feed to switch
Brown = live feed/switch to the foglight relay

Fantastic. Just what I needed.

Cheers
