Issues with my GSA... any constructive help appreciated

I can't ride my lc unless I am wearing earplugs.

Rattles like f*CK. Even the other half who knows nothing about bike engines says it sounds rough!

Almost sounds tinny as if the oil is not thick enough.

Due a 24k service in the next 1000 miles and will try motul 7100

I thought the decat pipes were not for road use?

Maybe you are right and the newer bikes are just not built very well, either way its fooked now. :augie

Think that may have been me - at least some guy in the ferry queue took the time to come over and tell me it was running rich. Makes it sound nice on the overrun though:D

I didn't get the impression Andy's bike was running rich, but it was quite grubby around the rear.
 
I agree - valve / valve seal damage. Maybe Hilltop did a bit too much timing advance on yours! Did you get a get a particularly big performance increase? Get Geoff to back it off a few degrees (and sort the valves).

DON'T mess with the ECU if you care about your bike.

Common sense really - innit.

When you said the toilet was destroyed at Wheels & Waves I thought you meant the downstairs khazi not your bike. :D
 
Just wondering why bother to get a bike Hillcropped and put another set of headers and muffler on if bike is hardly used.......:nenau

I have to admit the exhaust was a complete waste of money... but so are drugs, alcohol and cigarettes

Khazi destruction is Paul's area of expertise, I don't think WC destruction can be laid at his door.

So it’s going in on Tuesday ... heads off and have a fiddle about ... hopefully find out what’s wrong.... and for the doubters.... it’s under warranty!!

Also, why do you run it on the higher grade fuel when the manual says 95 ?
 
My 2016 r1200rs was running just as you describe. Turns out the cam lobe was buggered and to quote the mechanic “it was a mess in there”… everything done under warranty and running quietly like new again. Lots of people say the LC boxer runs loud and rattling but I’d get it checked out. I was leaving mine and glad I didn’t

How loud is loud?.. my RHS head makes a bit of a clatter (LHS one I dont notice)... but dealer says its ok?.....

Mine was sounding really quite rough. Some had said it was normal but it turns out it wasn’t
