You can’t beat a rolling ride report. :thumb

I left my lid sat like that on the tunnel. Then it fell off. Did yours?

Cheers and thanks.

First stop for the day was to get some referee assessment done at the international tournament. Unfortunately a bit late to ref more than one game but feed back is good. Our youth team made 4th place in div 3. The top 3 in div 3 are all national or international standard like French Women National Team.

Then a dreary ride through the top of Belgium past Lille and Maubeuge for the hotel. Swimming pool and breakfast. It was a bloody long day. Shoei Hornet lost a screw.

Yep, that is dull. Gets interesting now though.

Safe travels..

I do like a good report and pictures..

Had a massive sleep. The last few weeks I didn't sleep enough and now I'm catching up.

There is a wetnes in the air and this has made it way to the ground. Some bloke on an MT10 thought nothing of it and came past the hotel on full chat. Envious about those 17' wheels.

Looking at the weather radar I will be following the rain. No problem, not yet but a change as all the other years have been rain free. You can't have it all and why buy a rain suit if you are not going to use it.

Repair done to the helmet. And because there is another screw I thought it best to do both sides. Nice symmetry.

The hotel is in front of a retirement home. Very stylish and good service.

Domitys in Maubeuge.

Following rain clouds was the game today. As I moved South I came close enough to utilise the rain suit. Then turned East and had some sunshine break through from time to time.

Suit up.

A detour to avoid the straightest of straight roads. Only to happen on a very serious RTA of car vs van on a corner. 2 bends away from a hydro electric dam.

Givet is nice. The church tower plays a melody on the hour.

aedeeacd8886a370efb4d128524bc1b6.jpg

Then the route aims for Spa. The roads gets interesting but with wet and dry patches in the bends the lean angle is conservative.

Somewhere overlooking the Ardenne.

I have never seen a King Tiger tank but here it is. Some beast compared to the Sherman in Bastogne. Meet King Tiger 11 #213.

The F1 was yesterday. Must be some party at the circuit. Today was cleaning up and moving the circus on. As I enter Spa I thought the place smells of shit. Only after I pass the garbage truck do I realise. More curvy roads ahead. Oh yeah.

Then the valley of a thousand wind turbines.

I felt like it was taking forever but eventually made it. Stopped in a car park to have a snack. Would be rude not to tick the box.

Fortunately after scrutineering I was not allowed on. Lacking a Porsche engine and 17'' wheels plus it is the wrong colour was cited as reasons. Bugger.

A quick blast to Koblenz and on to Bad Elms for the night. Surprise inspection of the local festival.

For what it is worth. When you plan a trip to Eastern Europe, make sure you load the damn maps on the Sat nav. Bugger.

Night night. Allenstasse tomorrow.

The road up to this point was really good. From here on till the 2nd half of the B275 it was diversions and motorway. Mixed bag really.

But all was not lost as boot scraping bends was on offer. And not the hairpin type. These were proper 80+mph cranked right over and little traffic.

Time for a break.

One thing quite frustrating at times is the frequency of towns. Then there is from time to time the speed camera. I'm sure I'm going to contribute to the speeding fine from Germany thread.

And the you pass through a national park. There is a cafe at the top but a bit further on and this is the view.

With the best bit over for the day it is just the annoying 50kph for km on end before the last blast to Oberhof.

And dinner as I type.

It’s the same end result though. I’ve just grabbed my first pint of the day and at £6 a pop there might not be too many.

Your day looks a lot better than my tedious 650 miles of motorway but needs must and I’ve done it before though I’ll be on reduced mileage wherever I go tomorrow.

Have fun.

Even if the coffee at the hotel fired up the eyelashes, it didn't had the same effect as that bastard corner which tightened on itself quite sharpishly.

Anyway, from Swanson to first job. Meet JS Bach and his first place of work.

But what a view.

Back on tarmac and a managed to get caught up in the traffic from hel. Cut your losses and make your own way. Another view.

Joining the Alleenstrasse again and another closed road. Sometimes you can get past. Sometimes not but I had this road all to myself for a while.

One has to take a break and there iare plenty of opportunities to do that.

2bbea90a347a729df133a4e550b846db.jpg

From here on it was bendy roads all the way to Aue. From Aue to Annaberg Buchholz it is pure traffic hel. Then it is intermittent good road, bad traffic. When it is good it is really good. When the traffic is bad, it is bad. The Alleenstrasse has disappeared to be replaced by the Silberstrasse. And a dash to Dresden where I'm sitting now in an internet cafe where my maps are updated thanks to the helpful staff. Unfortunately not enough space for Eastern Europe maps so from the border I will wing it.

All is not lost. Very detailed map from Budget car rental all those years ago.

Aye. And dome of this :D

Dresden is old architecture with brand new and some east block looks thrown in the mix. It is beautiful and worth a visit. Nice hotel and TripAdvisor recomended restaurant next to it.

I forgot the missus is reading this.

It is sent from my phone. So fucking what?

Dresden is great, the old part of the city has some excellent bars but today’s top tip is look for rainbows above the door or you’ll get very odd looks as you sit drinking beers with your wife.

Needless to say, Wessie nearly wet himself laughing when he found out where I’d been drinking.
