My 1190R is ridden all year round, a bit of muddy stuff, a bit of touring and lots of commuting.
The first year I had her I got all nerdy and covered fasteners etc in waxy shit. I removed it all the next spring, never used it again and the cleaning regime has been as follows:
Winter commuting ~ quick hose down and application of that Scotoiler stuff if it's been wet and salty. That's it. No washing of the bike at all.
Summer ~ one 'proper' clean (polish & shit). Maybe two or three jet washes and chamois dry.
I've just given her her annual 'proper' clean and am proper pleased with how well she has held up to nearly five years of UK riding and, what I consider to be, minimal cleaning. The only corrosion was a couple of rusted bolts on the aftermarket rad guard, a bit of surface rust on the front disc bobbins (polished off) and the brake pipe where it connects to the rear disc, again that was only mild surface stuff and polished away..............Even the front of the engine which cops all the road shit is looking remarkably good and if I was more festidious about cleaning I'm sure it'd come up better
Well put together these ol' KTM's
There now follows a load of boring photos..................
