Having a cracking week away in Devon
First was the excellent ukgser Princetown weekend and now a few days trailriding with 2gses
Great ride today around Totnes and South Hams and up to Newton Abbot
2gses is a maestro at guiding us on the lanes and we did at least 60 green lanes today

New venue tomorrow

Scones with bits in... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... :(

Enjoy your trailing JB

( posting Remus sticker Wednesday ) :thumb

Cheers mate for the Remus badge
Cream first of course
Good to meet up at Princetown and a great ride together on Saturday
Loving Devon

Don't tell everybody, enough grockles down here already!!!.
Paignton bike bike night on Wednesday, you need to try the local delicacy of either "dirty" or "messy" chips followed by an ice cream:)
Definitely jam first
Al.

Cherry & walnut (pieces) scones, from the tea room next to the Plume

Bloody luverly nom nom :)

XR400 looking good JB. The trail above the scones will be interesting when a bit of rain falls, plenty of underlying boulders to upset your ride.:D

Yep, one or two tricky ones and would be harder wet
Interesting one was a lane that had a partly submerged drainage pipe up the middle for the full length and it was steep - slippy as F***
One or two I was glad to be coming down instead of up
Some interesting engineering from a bygone era - love the history of these ancient roads nearly as much as riding them
XR 400 doing a good job on the lanes - braaap braaap with the wheel aloft on a few
Met some cracking farmers moving cattle and penned up a few stray sheep - funny what you come across
Quite a bit of badger activity in places so I guess not all have been culled
Makes a change from road riding and some of the nadgery tarmac lanes lead to some interesting properties- good to watch a thatcher at work at one
All part of life's rich tapestry - we all rush off abroad but uk has some ace riding
No foreign trips for me this year

Cream first?

I thought you’re one of the locals? Pah! :p

Devon way is cream first
It's the Cornish that put the bloody jam on first
Clotted cream is to replace the butter - so you spread it first
Everyone knows that (except the Cornish)

But if you want a thick layer of cream, then try putting the jam on top, it turns into a complete mess!

Or do you just put a thin layer of cream on, to keep the costs down?:augie:D:JB

You need the knack - Devonians have it inbuilt
Thick layer of cream first and spread with a knife
Teaspoon for the jam, but just make a little dimple with the underside of spoon, in the cream
Spoon the strawberry jam (no other is allowed) into the dip
Job done
Top up as necessary

Went for the first time last year with my TRF group. Brilliant riding with lots and lots of great lanes, some of which start off nice and gentle, then turn into armageddon without any warning :D. Going back again next month and can't wait!

Looks like you're having a fabulous time JB, keep us update :thumb

Cheers Toddy
Yep you do get lured by a gentle start and then a real snotter further on and generally in the darker sunken parts of the lane .....where the unsuspecting victim is claimed

Looks like fun :)

Nice to see you over the weekend. Enjoy the rest of the trip :thumb

Another day ......another area
Just a short afternoon as we moved base camp
Still quite a few lanes completed in 3 hours
More challenging this afternoon
