I've not had my '03 R1150RT very long, got it at the beginning of August so I am learning atm.

I have noticed the mounting points for an additional fan to fit to the oil cooler but no fan.

Is this normal or should there be a fan fitted?

Authority bikes had/have cooling fans fitted behind the oil cooler so that the engines can be left running for extended periods to charge batteries for lights and radios etc

Bike doesn't run hot.

So with the exception of the authority bikes you wouldn't expect to see one on a standard R1150RT then?

Not unless you intend parking up for very ling periods with the engine running as it needs to power a radio, emergency lights and all other electrical gizmos.. it's also why police bikes have a second battery fitted in the fairing compartment.

The oil coolers, when fabricated, have mounting points fitted so they can go on civilian or authority bikes
