D30 back protector confusion

Just purchased a back protector as above which is orange and ridged on one side and smooth and black on the other. Revzilla you tube states the orange side is what sits on your back to aid ventilation however the pack it came in says the orange side away from the rider. Not sure it really matters but wondered what the collective thoughts are.

The one I have which I think is a Furygan one definitely fits with the ridged side towards your back. Is it a CE Level 2 one?
 
I spent about 2 hours trying to figure out the different level/shape/size of D3O back armour (and some others) a couple of months ago...finally found the one online then immediately discovered that the one in my Klim jacket fitted the Axo jacket I was looking to fit one to. Easy to change...

Forgotten all the insight I'd discovered as well now.
