Currently I have a r 11th cast front with the spoked rear,120/70 17 and 150/70 17 rear
I'm tryingto decide if I need the cast rear, looking at both tyres I seem to have a lot of tyre unused and am thinking I have a profile mismatch
The 170 rear would have a flatter profile and probably put more rubber on the road
Also it's still quite tippy even with a fair bit of preloaded
Any thoughts or just do it?

Was there something with it as standard? Are you going to be changing the back then change something else? And so on. I’ve nearly always found standard is best. JJH

Not changing, wanted a lower seat and as I crashed it thought i'd mess

No point in fitting a wide tyre to a narrow rim.

I've got a set off cast wheels off a RS (I think) with a 5.5 rear wheel with a 180 tyre and a 120 on the front.

With a 1cm chicken strip on the back I still have 2.5 - 3cm chicken strip on the front. So you'd have to push hard to use all of the front tyre.

With the 17 front the bike drops really quick into a corner compared to the 19 spoked wheel even with the correct rear.

I did have to grid the stop on the centre stand a bit as it was a bit precarious with the smaller front wheel.

You’ll not regret it... the 120/180 or 190 combination is the dogs b*****ks for cornering... Reaching the edge of the rear is easy enough, but I only just touch the edge of the front :green gri
