So, this bike is a 2009.
Only 13k km on the clock.
The tank started spilling gas.
Removed the cap and the tank was rusted through. Because the drains clogged.

I think I’ll be better off getting another tank.
Put some RTV silicone and unclogged the drains.

Need to fix mine

Well, I thought I was pretty well up to date with my new to me 2011 R1200R, a mammoth clean of the bike at weekend (after a filthy 150 miles last week ....) & a good lashing of ACF50 today.

BUT, I then read this post and checked my filler cap late this afternoon :blast

Yep, its all rusted up, nowhere near as bad as the photo at the start of this thread, but the area will need scraping, cleaning, rust convertor, rustoleum paint finish, a new seal fitted and an abdeckring adding.

Unfortunately the drain hole is blocked, :nenau
I tried the strimmer cord / wd40 approach but its still blocked approx 4 cm down ? I'll keep going at it for a few days before giving up. Possibly I will also try the compressed air approach ..... from below & see if that works ? (if I can work out what tube it is at the bottom of the bike ?)

Brilliant info on this forum and also on this link also: http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=22416

Parts to order ......
