Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has told 100 companies to stop rip off postal charges to Highlands and remote areas.

Ever been told 'free post to UK address' then told oh no, not if you live in a remote area ?? then report them to ASA.

We get this all the time, and fed up as we get charged the same to post from here whether we post to Edinburgh or Portsmouth.

It’s a cutthroat industry - and I can understand that for ‘couriers’ - there are increased costs in sending to Highlands (if not by Royal Mail) - just the same as a train ticket to Thurso is a wee bit more than London to Edinburgh. They use banding, as individual quotes would be too cumbersome.

Maybe increased courier costs might just mean that people in those outlying areas - support local retailers rather than Amazon? No - they will flock to Amazon and then complain when their local towns die..........

It’ll Just mean that more retailers will not deliver to H&I

Even worse when you go to the post office and purchase a “special delivery before 12” . The post office will happily accept your hard earned. However when your customer calls you to say it hasn’t arrived and it tracking in the Inverness centre when it should be with them in London. Parcel finally delivered at 10: 44 on Monday morning.

Upon contacting parcel force to complain was told that service doesn’t apply in the Highlands, says so in the small print, well it gives you a list of postcodes which aren’t included. Now that’s a rip off.

Normal post takes a day or two longer to arrive as well.

Yes applies both ways too, always a day late.
