Keypad positioning

Hi hoping someone can help me .
while writing a email on my iPad I seemed to have inadvertently caused the keypad to be positioned right in the centre of the screen and as such cannot see what I have written .
So how do I get it back to its original position at the foot of the screen .

You have to go into Settings, Keyboard, scroll down and enable Split Keyboard. Now when you use the keyboard if you press and hold the keyboard hide button you get two options to Undock or Split the keyboard.
