VFR750 Reprise

I think white on the single sided swingarm looks stunning and understated

it looks like a bloody scooby with gold wheels ;)

I had one, bored me shitless :D BUT they're great bikes.

Tim is that a Chester Taxi Cab plate on the Triumph?

Gold...but would look even better with the previous models 8 spoke wheel...:green gri

This came up in conversation when I refreshed my last VFR ... I would love to fit an 8 spoke on the rear as they're a much nicer looking wheel, however finding a decent second hand one for less that £250 is a bit of a mission and I'm not prepared to spend 25% of the cost of the bike on changing the look of the rear wheel slightly.
If one comes up at aensible money then I'll but it, until then ... I have bigger fish to fry! ;)

ha ha it was a birthday present from a bikermate who used a router on brass plate, Under the number is a carved figure of 'Kickstart' (Ogri's dog) and in Itlaics...
The Dog's Bollocks....Tim's T150 Trident, I went all over on that bike which was always reliable and I'd set it up well so still regret selling it and can you belive the number plate went with it :blast

OK quick straw poll .......

I'm going to either paint the wheels or have them powder coated ..... I'm NOT leaving them black so ...

Gold or white?

Chris,

I had a 750 FM in Black with white wheels ........... DO NOT have white wheels. I spent more time cleaning them than anything else! I miss that bike, as you say - it was a time when Honda over -engineered their products, and the V4 750's were a great example of them at their best.

Enjoying the thread BTW.

Fab, been having Tunner rebuild thread withdrawal symptoms, I’m in.

Looks like you’ll need the space Chris

:beerjug:

Here’s one I did myself back in the day for a mate. Lots and lots of elbow grease, polish, paint, powder coating etc etc. The nice thing about VFR’s is the quality and how well they scrub up even when neglected for years.

Why do the photos not load in sequence ? :blast

And the final result. I got a whole £50 note from the owner for doing this for him tho’ he did pay for all parts and sundries.

Rear headers out .... :blast

I bought a pair of new stainless front headers and was struggling to get them to fit nicely so I took out the rear headers in order to get them on the bench and make it all play nicely together.

Sadly upon mocking up I have found that one of the sealing rings ups into the cylinder head is a mile off and completely the wrong angle ... :blast

I'll get creative with the TIG welder tomorrow I guess

I seem to recall a similar issue with stainless headers on the 800. It doesn’t fit properly until you fully tighten it. Too long ago to be more specific but a search on bikers oracle vfr forum might yield results.
