I'm looking for something that I can plug into the wall for power. I'm hoping to run a keyboard and mouse off it and also have the option of charging an ipad and/or iphone(s). So I guess I'd need something that does this efficiently. Safety is a concern, I don't want things to go on fire! Something that looks nice would be a benefit:D . Anybody have a decent one at home they could recommend? Oh and moderately priced please! Thankyou :thumb2

The best and safest by far, I have this in my home, Anker USB Charger PowerPort 5 (40W 5-Port USB Charging Hub) Multi-Port Wall Charger for iPhone 6s / 6 / 6 Plus / 5 / 5s, iPad Air 2 / mini 3, Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge and More

Does that connect to the laptop as well? Allowing a mouse etc to be connected? It looks just the job if it does...

Ah - no. If I am reading you right - you want a dongle with single USB into your laptop, which has sufficient USB sockets in it, to take USB receiver(s) or hardwire for keyboard and mouse PLUS power accessories such as an Ipad, iphone etc?

You would need a USB on your laptop with sufficient current capacity, perhaps an "always on socket" ?

Something like this:

or:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00VE4UJD4/ref=psdc_430443031_t5_B00Y25XFGK (which seems to be exactly what you need?)

What you're looking for is a powered USB hub. It gives you multiple USB ports to connect devices to your PC/laptop while at the same time provides charging capability for phones/tablets etc.

Something like this:

Not recommending this one in particular - just pointing you in the right direction. Best thing to do is check out the reviews of a few different models on Amazon - tis always a great way to get a proper idea of what's good and what's pants. :thumb2 Just search for 'powered USB hub' on Amazon.

Yes, I am sorry, I was not clear. I would like the electricity of things to be provided by the wall adapter, whilst the usb end would be dealt with by the mac. I'd rather not over tax the mac power supply. It gets very hot.

Yes, that looks like the type of thing I'd like. It's rather large isn't it! :D
