Scrambler 1200

Like you need an excuse to do a bit of farkling ;)

Well I sold my T120 Black because I didn't see why I should have to spend out on doing something that Triumph should have done from the factory.
At least the Scrambler XE comes with Ohlins/Showa.

I’m fancying a Ducati Desert Sled at the moment , despite looking very similar it’s seems to be way better than the standard Scrambler , a completely different bike by all accounts . Have you tried one?

No. A mate had one briefly but didn’t like it.
No Ducati dealer over here, but I want a Panigale V4S Corse

Saw that at the bike show , it made me want to buy a Sportsbike again and I haven’t had one of those for ages! :drool
Did your mate have the Sled or the standard Scramber? Too slow, too small , too short on range ????

Sled !

He just found it didn’t ride as well as it looked . But he does chop and change his bikes .

If I had room in my garage I’d get the V4S Corse. Luckily it’s full!

I've not seen an XC yet

My local dealer had one come in direct from Triumph with a load of accessories on it. Arrived on the Monday and went out on the Wednesday to the first deposit holder on their list.

Interestingly, they also had two blue XE's come in at the same time again loaded with accessories but as of earlier this week still unsold

Yes sir. Just this week.

I'd be interested in your thoughts, what are your 1st impressions? I've put my interest on the back burner at the moment and have chosen something else, I didn't like the sound of the £800 1st service which does seem a bit excessive unless you can tell me otherwise.

Not heard about an £800 first service, sounds a bit odd to me. What would justify that amount of money. Its 10k miles or one year, maybe if anyone did 10k it might need valves checking but still seems too much.
Anyway, so far I’m loving it. Very punchy, handles great, brakes, lights all excellent. Its big but that aspect disappears on the road.
TFT display a bit fiddly and small, for someone with less than 20/20 vision. Lots of info though. Cat gets a bit warm by your right leg, as expected. Not really an issue though. No main stand is a pain in the arse. Only one remote key as standard, if you lose it you have to take the seat off to trigger the ignition system with a standard key. Very fiddly and a penny pinching exercise no doubt.
Looks stunning and everyone wants to talk about it when you’re out. Guess its a new model though. Having had most big adventure bikes over the years its a breath of fresh air. Talking of which, wind is a problem over 65mph, but you expect t that from a naked. Will fit a little screen soon, to help.
Bottom line is I’m well chuffed with it. Foibles and all. What bike doesn’t have the odd niggle.

Most of the twin ranges have fixed services advertised... £70 1st service, £190 Annual £ £190 6k - but for reasons unknown the 12 and 24k services are £600 and £780 respectively......

Fuck knows what they do for that...

Just had a look at the 24k service

Full calliper strip and clean

Head bearing strip clean and grease

Check the shims and replace - cams have to come out...

Plus the usual...

So, a big old job....

£600 for the 12k service? Seriously? I thought this isn't a BMW (which can be cheaper...)

I quite fancy an XE but may wait until all the buzz goes away and then look for a used low mileage one.

Why is the centre stand an option on the XC and not on the XE? That's nonsense.

That 'custom' version isn't a million miles away from the concept bike we saw at the Paris Bike Shed in 2015 (I'm assuming those production bikes are customised with off the shelf Triumph parts?).................

The black bike in post #114 is a stock XE fitted with genuine Triumph accessories such as high level front guard, aluminium radiator guard and crashbars. They've removed the handguards, indicators and number plate hanger, then repainted the tank and exhaust mounted number board :thumb2

All very clever design :bow

I’ve got my eye on one of these.... I had a 900 HT for 6 months - but it was too small and lacked power....

I’ve not ridden one yet, but I have sat on one and it feels just right... will blag a test ride in September - hopefully it will have more go...

One thing I have noticed is that from the factory the suspension is set up way too hard :blast

A bit of fiddling will see them working as Showa and Ohlins designed them :D

Barrelling down bumpy back roads is great fun when the suspenders are working as they should :thumb

What about the “go” I like torque will I be disappointed. ?

The 900 felt like my old 400 super dream tbh and left me cold...same when I had the 1050 KTM....

I need to know it’s a big twin....
