Have been thinking of some additional lighting on my 1290r and wondered what other people have fitted. Seen the light bar from black dog which was what I liked the look of.

Clearwater Darlas - love them!

$600+....kidding right?

I've got 4 of these mounted under the front light of the 1290: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Spot-Fog-Light-Headlight-Front-Head-Lamp-6-LED-12V-85V-Pair-Universal/263354717732?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170920101022%26meid%3Dccaf1063ed3441c8a01185bc3a19326a%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D253287055210%26itm%3D263354717732&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109

EVERYBODY stares at them when I'm out. I fitted 4 to my Freeride for night time rides. The light output is quite wide, they're cheap as chips so I don't worry about breaking them, but the best bit is the ball joint mount - you'd be unlucky not to find a fixing somewhere for these. You can bend the end in a vice too, which gives you even more flexibility. For daytime riding, if you want to be seen....brilliant. Why pay more!

How did you mount them under the light? Nice set up

Don't blame you. For me it's all about why I need them. If it's mostly DRL reasons there's just no point spending big bucks any more. Pointless. These lights might be cheap but they're annoyingly bright :D But if you're seriously off-roading and think it's worth it then why not.

In my case I just want it to LOOK LIKE I'm seriously off-roading:D

I appreciate it’s slightly different and a personally choice thing but when one of the original spots failed on my 1190 R, I fitted a pair of these:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/323281383218

They fitted onto the original mounts after a bit of thought and just needed to solder on a different waterproof connector and was good to go. They’re seriously bright and a fraction of the price of the KTM replacements. I use them greenlaning and so they’ve been well hosed down and still work fine after 8+ months.

Hi,
How did you wire them in as I spoke to adventure bike shop and they weren’t sure about picking up the main beam signal, also what beam did you go. Thanks

I bought the wider version of this for off-roading. Very heavy I thought. and not the best beam pattern....you may think otherwise.

I've just bought 2 of these...£5.69 each! :D

WOW! Very light...boom boom... & VERY bright. It's like a version of the single ones above but many more LED's and two joined together. Fired one up last night and for main beam, or my case off-roading, they're going to be A-mazing. The useful beam distance is very good indeed but also has a spread of light up close. They've pulled that off really well.

The metal brackets aren't very pretty so i'll set the angles/fixings and paint them (although you wouldn't really see them, but...)
The brackets bend forward/backwards and they've designed them really well so they 'twist' too. So fitting to a curved panel becomes possible. For my use I'm going to fit one above the Freeride headlight (useless thing) and wire it to come on separately to the others.

If anyone wants to know I'll post a picture of one fitted/working. I post how much current it pulls too as it must use a bit even though it's LED.

They look pretty good, can you post some pics please, and how did you power them?

Did you measure the actual power usage on those?

1.65 Amps. Someone can work out the Watts

The smaller single units use 0.5 Amps each. So 2 Amps for the 4 I've fitted I guess.
