Not very often you get the chance to do a full workout on one of these.:thumb
Most of you guys would kick the tyres and just ride it:D

I reckon Gary at BAMW should be looking worryingly over his shoulder Mike.

Hope the new owner enjoys the restored bike
If I ask him nicely I hope he lets me have a ride after completion

Fix whats broken and ride it. Original and unmolested usually trumps restored in the desirability stakes come resale time. But who gives a f**k what I think!

I agree with solid state. Patina shows character, a nice shiny bike can in my mind be a wreck that's been resurrected but obviously that's not the case here.

+1 and the risk that it’s either too shiny to use or if you do use it, you’ll be continually stressed. Owners choice though.

Agree with solid state, first question most ask me when I am on my well worn G/S PD is - " Have you owned the bike since it was new? "

Second is - How many K's has it done?

Restored to "as new" it wouldn't get a second glance.

And "customised" they would probably piss on it -------------.

Everyone has different tastes, so we will never have a consensus on how to treat our old bikes.

I am firmly in the - leave them alone and ride them - school, only changing things to improve the function for the use I put it too.

But I am probably in the minority these days!

I like patina, but I also like shiney......and yes it does get ridden.

Minority maybe but agree with this and with solid state.

Patina is king.
