Dublin mostly!
I took a few photos in North Wales yesterday morning on my way from Shrewsbury to Holyhead. I went via Fron-goch which is where the 1916 Volunteers (incl. Michael Collins) were interned until Dec 1916.

Then stopped to see a plaque about the Quakers near Bala, then Caernarvon Castle, Holyhead Maritime Museum (closed) to see the Leinster memorial there. Very interesting spin, although cold and foggy to start with. I took a quick look at the Ffestiniog Railway station at Tanybylch, looks worth another look on a fine day.

Bike is running well, which it should be after an expensive overhaul.....ah sure!

Snowdonia is really beautiful, I am hardly to first to say that, but I will try to see more of it in better weather.

Very informative and great pictures.
Not much luggage, so far from home!

Smashing looking bike by the way

Great pics, looks like you had a nice ride home in the dry.
Interesting info about the prison camp.

My son went to junior school in Fron Goch for a while, it was forbidden to speak English even in the playground....

Some great pics Bin. My Great Granfather was lost on the Leinster which led to my Granfather being sent from his family in Dublin to Fermanagh to be raised by a relative there.
Bike looking great too.

Some great pics in there, along with some really interesting history. Thanks for the read...:thumb2

Lovely photos Bin, it's a really gorgeous part of the world. The bike looks great too!

I'd never heard about this in school history lessons so was surprised when I was told about it when I was in Bala earlier in the year. Had to go & have a look.
In addition to the main North Camp there's the South Camp down the lane by the school

I didn't go down to the Croke Park Memorial plaque because it looked like a private roadway but I'll have a look next time

I particularly liked the mosaics on the school wall :

They are great photos and I now remember that it was Jockser who told me about Fron-goch and sparked my interest.

As a bit of trivia, my father was taught by a well-known man, Master Greene, in Horseleap Nation School. Master Greene lived to be 106 years of age and was well known as an historian. He also kept driving until he was 103 ! Anyhow, he was a substitute teacher at Horseleap because the Headmaster was interned in Fron-goch. As a result of Master Greene's teaching, Dad got a scholarship and went on to become a teacher / school inspector. Not sure how he would have done if the Headmaster had not been interned!

Again, interesting trivia. Have a relative or two in the cemetery at Horseleap and a dad who crossed the sea and joined up in 39. He couldn't return to Irl until family elders has passed as joining up was frowned upon in his 'home' neck of the woods. hence, never met his parents...Times are changing TG
