Evening all.

As the title suggests, can anyone assist with audio books. When searching on line it seems I can download to my kindle account, but I want to download content to a memory card that I can put into my Garmin 590 and listen via Bluetooth to a Sena headset.

Cheers
Richard

I guess you just need to convert them to mp3 format then add to SDCARD in the same way as you add music mp3.

Official or unofficial downloads?

You might be able to do Podcasts too if your interested?

Forgive my ignorance, but if I have audio books on kindle can they be transferred/converted to MP3 to add to memory card?

Podcasts or audio books, just looking for content to listen to whilst on the bike. I have just got a Sena Sc10u and trying to get to grips with it.

If you have a mobile phone connected, maybe Audible app will work.

Cheers Joca. My mobile is connected to the 590, but I'm trying to listen from satnav as that is wired and will save the battery on mobile

Richard, I am having to guess as, not least, I do not use sound on my GPS / motorcycle. But, here goes:

These audio books, are they from something called ‘Audible’ (‘Audible.com’ or ‘Audible.co.uk’) which seems to be some Amazon offshoot? If so, the following may help you, perhaps:

It seems to be possible, which is an encouraging start:

Garmin also tells you how to get them off again:

Let’s start, do you have the Audible software loaded onto your GPS device? This video seems to show what it is you are looking for:

Yes? Great then it seems you are starting to cook on gas.

Assuming we are talking about ‘Audible’ books it seems to be only possible to do things through a PC, not a Mac. I did though find out, I think, that if you first set up the GPS and ‘Audible’ through a PC, you can do the transfer via a Mac thereafter.

Over to you to see if the above is on the right lines. If it isn’t please tell us what precisely what software for the audio books you are using, their file types, whether you are using a PC or a Mac etc etc etc

Failing all or any of that, try the Garmin 590 forum:

Thankyou for taking the time and assisting Wapping, its really appreciated.

I have looked at Audible and a few other sites, and they are all subscription and im not interested in subscribing, just want to buy and download the odd book to listen to.

I have downloaded the file converter so will have a play around with that when I get a but more time to convert files to MP3. I have also downloaded some content from the BBC webite which has transfered to my SD card. It seems to play OK through the media player on the 590 so will see how that goes until i get a bit more time to try the books again.

Thank you

Richard

Jolly good.

Just be sure not to set your GPS device to shuffle or you might get random chapters.

Kindle supports only MP3. However, the audio files can be easily converted. The other way to solve this problem is to get a free audio book player. The best of them go in a trial mode. When the trial ends, you can simply reinstall the chosen and needed stuff and use it again.

I listen to books all the time and even as mp3 books are LARGE files most books will be 500mb to 1gb in size, dont know what the maximum size is on your garmin, mine is an old one and its quite small.
much easier to plug the phone into a usb charger and bluetooth of the phone, or music player, and use the satnav for navigation.
There a masses of apps for books for any version of phones or audio players. I used to use a music player with 2 250 gb memory cards which holds just about anything I need but the new phone has 512 gb so mostly use the phone now. I probably have 150 odd books on the phone, and any headset can accept Bluetooth from at least two sources so you can listen to Satnav and phone at the same time anyway.
