89 R80 para,
Fresh in from the fatherland :D
In lovely unmessed with condition, with some nice parts fitted.
Perfect for an overland bike,or a HPN style resto.
I have a few big projects underway at the moment so could be tempted to part with it as is.:thumb
Or if someone wanted to get involved with a commission or special build I’d love to oblige:bounce1

Is that red rubber thing a specially modded breather on the rear drive? Nice looking bike although that hi viz on parts facing the rider coukd be quite dazzling in the sun but an easy fix. What's the sticker with what looks like a blindfolded head about?
Someone's bound to ask about price Mike, any ideas?

It’s not hi vis ,just a brave colour,:D
The sticker is the “Dakar “ emblem
It’s not really a for sale advert ,more of a “talk to me if interested”
I’d prefer to restor or recommission the bike for a new owner, although it starts on the button and runs nicely.
I recon I’d let it go as is for @£5k
I’ve already been given the thumbs up by the good wife if I wanted to keep it ,as we have been considering going to a GS airhead from our current 1100 gs.
But I have way too many bikes already so would prefer to wait awhile before adding to the collection :augie

Ah go on, tell me,about the red rubber thing.. The sticker I mention is the one on outside face of smaller pannier.

At the moment I'm still in the process of convincing my wife that I need it.

She's not having it as yet and I realise it's a discussion that I'm going to lose, however, I'm continuing the dialogue, just in case she forgets herself briefly.

You need to stop trying to convince your good wife and use the correct language
You see “need” is never going to work:blast
Repeat after me”
Darling, look at this,it could be a really sensible addition to our investment portfolio!
This would be far better than tying up cash in an ISA,it’s as good as inflation proof and readily liquidated if we ever needed the cash quickly :D

I tried that. Still didn't work. :blast

I think I could improve my case if I got a job. Still, there's more fish in the sea. (I mean bikes, not wives) :thumby:

If it’s the one depicting the black head, it’s a Corsica sticker.

Hmmmm,
Tell the good lady that this one is the special light weight version, easily lifted on to the back of a narrow boat should we get another.
It’s a good line,you never know:blast

Not sure that you can say things like that in here,
I mean, black head, when was the last time you had a black head,
Ageist bastard:rob

Yes, good point. I was quite surprised when I realised I’m somewhere between ‘semi snow-capped’ and ‘silver fox’. It just sort of crept up on me!

Out of intrest mike; how much lighter than the 1100 would it be; and is it a bit lower and easier to man handle?

I think a para would be @190 kg,(obviously not this one with a full tank)
With a few sensible mods like a big brake kit,and poss take the motor out to 1000cc,it would be a good replacement for an 1100
I shall be doing exactly the same at some point
