Some may think I don't ride over winter................however it's not entirely true:p

Sure the GSA's go into hibernation, but the smaller bikes come out to play

Yesterday I organised our TRF Xmas run, commencing from Reeth and covering Swaledale and Wensleydale

We had 30 riders, starting out early from Reeth Market Place and returning for Christmas lunch at Reeth at 1pm, where we spent a pleasant afternoon - eating and drinking................we went home with full tummies

I was one of 4 Run Leaders, taking out all abilities and on a variety of bikes...............with aim to have fun, get muddy and keep upright

After previous days of rain, there was plenty of wet trails and swollen rivers...........however the day dawned bright and we were treated to wall to wall sunshine under azure skies, like something akin to Alpine ski resorts in winter and unlike British weather

High above Reeth on Fremington Edge

Crossing over from Swaledale to Wensleydale

Although it was sunny, I did feel a little chilly in my Rallye suit and despite riding for an hour, it was no better

I glanced down and noticed my vents wide open........D'oh

Schoolboy error and once done up, it was relatively toastie

Plenty of water in the rivers, this tricky ford would have been over the handlebars, so we opted for an easier option of the bridge

Lek had a tumble from her Beta 200, coming off the bridge and nearly ended up in the river

In TRF tradition, camera came out before she got help:D

Yours truly and my steed for the day...............relatively clean in mid morning and then after 60 miles of mixed roads and trails

An old school XR400, Kickstart only (do you still remember kicking a bike:eek:)

Still a good bike for the trails, though..................even if you have to prod it into life

We have the views and the wide open trails, you have the nadgery lanes, flanked by high hedges

Both are good, in their own different ways

what a superb day out that must have been great pics thanks for sharing

Been to both Devon and Reeth with my TRF group this year and they are both excellent places to go trail riding.

Have to say JB you have some spectacular scenery on your doorstep you lucky bugger!

Couple of shots from our trip up there at the end of last month

Really liking that XR400 JB ,

Perfect tool for the job.

Nice to see the rivers full again after that hot summer. :beerjug:

Cheers Andrew, I like it too and kickstarting it brings you back to biking of an earlier age - although it is a very good starter, just one or two kicks each time.........good job as I must have started it, maybe 40-50 times yesterday
