A bit of Bully

Never seen such awful welding on a bike, and I had early Jap bikes. Hope it’s going to be sorted.

Good point, blimey!

Is this the one i prepared earlier, and the origninal sitting at the back ? ;)

Funny enough when i first saw it , i thought it looks too blue for blue if that makes sense.

Can wait to see mikey weave his magic ..

In order to address the issues it all needs to go back to bare metal.:bounce1
The main stand is bent and twisted,
The swing arm is just a mess

Would that have been the factory welding on the logditudinal ribs on the swing arm?

A nice looking bike,so whats the gen on the welding is it grind the bike to bits and reweld?

mikeyboy........This is JUST the sort of thread that many of us hang around here for. I/we are looking forward to seeing you work your magic. Cost is NOT an issue....'cos I'm not paying....:D

Crack on....:thumb2

In the words of the great Richard Anderson, Director of the OSI........ we can rebuilt him

Standard issue on Spanish Bultaco, braces on swingarm are all like that including Sherpas
Don't forget these were built at end or during Spanish Civil War timewise and labour relations weren't great
Bultaco finally went bust in 1983/84
Great bikes and many World Championships were won on them - it was more about how they rode/went and not what they looked like

Yes
They are all like that
Best way to brace it for strength and who cares what it looks like
Testament was they were the best Trials bikes of that era and both the enduro and Trials bikes were similar with lots of trophies

Still popular today

Is it a 'cut-n-shut' bike?

Looking at the welding, it may have belonged to Snoopy

Not far off TBH, I'm sure Mike will confirm but it looks very much like the subframe has been welded back on after coming detached at some stage............ Frame / Engine numbers match though which is a start I guess :D

If anybody is REALLY bored there are 25 pages of bollox in the other bar which document why I bought the bike, my search for the bike and the work already done. There is a lot of bollox though, you have been warned..............

I know a man who makes gorgeous alloy handcrafted swing arms for Bultaco bikes

Only £650 sovs

Its still a lovely looking bike despite its uniquely historical points. I guess its like converting an old barn you still want to keep the flavour of the original or there would be no point :D

Hey Mikey, I just found this on a Spanish group I'm in and it might go someway to explaining the somewhat raised rear end :nenau

This bike's got the same angle on the subframe as ours; seems it was a not uncommon mod to raise the rear end and increase ground clearance for big impacts........... It still don't 'look' right to my eyes though, standard looks a lot better IMO.
