Well just done the disc changed to a HE 320 so decided to clean up the original disc and put on shelf JIC. Once cleaned and held up to the light I could see hairline cracks radiating from the Lightening/pad cleaning/cooling holes not running round the swept area but at random. On closer inspection I marked a couple on holes and checked the reverse side, the cracks where in the same place on the opposite side so what looked like surface cracks probably go right through the disc. I would urge anyone removing their front wheel to clean the disc and get it in some decent light to inspect for cracks. This may well have been highlighted before but please check your bike to be safe. Incidentally the cracks were on 60% of the holes. Not sure if the disc is original as I have no history, but 45K and 1996 it may well be.

Fortunately, I made the same change as you have a couple of years ago.

I may have a look at my old disc next week, out of interest.
