Request from the banks of the River Congo please

Disconnect the Lamda Probe Simon !! just tie it up out of the way

its the Round black plug on right side diagonal frame rail just about where the fuel pump would be

Removing it sets the fueling to a default map!! with no influence from the Lamda

If its been damaged by water or bad fuel it may well be telling the ECU a bunch of crap!

IF you can get a decently calibrated Voltmeter you can look into the TPS

IT should be sitting at a ball park 0.4 volt if its LOTS higher or zero that could well be your problem

It can be adjusted to see if you can get an approx value

P.S. How is fuel consumption compared to pre issues ???

Thanks is for tips Dr farkoff!

Fuel consumption is up (hard to estimate how much but maybe 10-15%)

Will check out your tips when get to Luanda hopefully tonight..s

Easiest solution may be to buy a Suzuki like your travelling companion.

Not sure my missus would appreciate your suggestion as she is joining me in Namibia as pillion

Also check that the internal U hose is not split and leaking pressure.
Disconnect the return from the regulator and feed into a container.
Start engine and run for exactly 1 minute. You should have 2 litres of fuel.

So more importantly, all went well for your good lady :thumb

GSes are easier to repair

Oh Gawd Sadly the question has to be asked!!!!

Is the end of your exhaust pipe Sooty or white?? Or even on some dodgy fuels "rusty" :O

Again these point to overfuelling or very possibly Damaged Lamda if its rusty,

Sooty pipe could be the TPS or damaged lamda

Lets face it you are probably not "wringing the berries" out of the 1150 on those roads to blow the schit clear?

It's true I am just cruising at 3,000 rpm - but my couple of bursts of acceleration saw it struggling to achieve full revs.

Will have a look at exhaust in morning

As readers of the Ride report Will know, things went bsdly wrong yesterday.

So now I need to source a starter ring gear rapidly which may be a tall order in Angola.

So a general appeal:

has anyone a spare starter ring gear (eg off an old clutch) they can let me have/DHL to Angola please? Suitable for 2003 r1150gs.

Thanks in advance!

Simon
