Glue removal;
try (on a small unobtrusive place first, just in case) Acetone / nail varnish remover.

Acetone can be a bit agressive on "plastic" - I'd try alcohol first & as the previous man said if acrtone is required find an area where you can experiment & subsequently hide any failures.
And you think he'll be capable of sticking that back on after alcohol

hot soapy water first i think then will try that
