Any advice on insurance do i add to the house insurance or go to a specialist watch insurer?

Used to have 2 Rolex...(a datejust and a submariner) used the household insurance, added £5/month to the premium (can't imagine a separate policy would save any money).
Sold them both now, bought a Tudor Black Bay, and paid £7k off the mortgage with the balance ;)
The Tudor is worth less, so no insurance now.

Go with all-risks inclusion in your home policy (worldwide cover if you require that), as long as they don’t require it/them stored in a ‘cash-rated’ safe.

At that point - you could be better taking out separate insurance (and buy a safe)

We've itemised ours on the home insurance.

Cartier Santos and Omega Constellation

Separate itemised all risk on home insurance, not sure how much each added as had some jewelry on there too.
Vintage and current Omega Seamasters and Speedmaster, Ebel Sportwave

Two Rolex on the House insurance, itemised and serial numbers were required

Ok thanks for the feed back i'll see what the house insurance says.

Hi John,I put my Omega Speedmaster on my house insurance as a named item,no problem at all,Aviva insurance if that's any help mate.

Just check the small print. I'm currently renewing my insurance at the moment and one of my watches is 14 years old. Privilege said they would only insure it to the receipt value unless I had an up to date valuation. A number of insurers will only cover you in the UK. Having done the compare sites, its looking like either Admiral Platinum or M&S.

Most Householders Comprehensive insurance can cope with watches, just as they can cope with jewellery’and cameras some of which can run into many thousands. As always, read the policy as some insurers separate out cover within the house from cover outside the house. If you intend to wear the watch away from home, chose the right section. Similarly, some will require proof of ownership or valuation and / or place certain criteria on theft, for instance from vehicles.

It’s all so cheap, don’t cut corners to save pennies. It will only turn around and bite you.
