Hi

I have an 08 plate F650GS and have an ongoing problem with what seems to be a fork oil seal leak.

I have swapped out the seal [again] and had a good look at the stanchions. There was a very small amount of pitting that I have dressed out.

My query is the fork oil capacity in my Haynes manual is @ 530ml with a 100ml air gap to the top of the stanchion. When I have refilled again today I have used over 600ml [roughly measured by the oil bottle] to achieve the correct air gap.

Would anyone know the correct factory fill levels for these forks - my concern is that an overfill will increase the internal oil pressure and could be the cause of it passing the oil seal?

TIA :beerjug:

Others have had this confusion, go with the air gap (collapsed fork and spring out).
If it isn't the pitting causing your leak, check for okay in the bushes.

Cheers - have the correct gap now. Replaced bushes while I was in there so we'll see how it goes
