93 GSPD. Imported by that extremely nice chap from Derby and mine for 2 years now. Here it is at the top of the Passe Ghalia near Stelvio in Italy. Very competent bike. Needs a good clean and service now. Panniers courtesy of Cookie :thumb

Is this the most northerly PD in the UK???

Have fun

'93 R80GS, although the VIN number would have it as manufactured in '91. Imported from Germany 3 years ago, sorted in my garage. New OEM rear shock at 64,000 km, shortly after the rotor packed in. Bar risers and lower footrests on the way from Migsel. Laminar lip added to original screen and Parabellum screen put on when the wet turns inclement. Left heated grip may need to be replaced.

Here's mine . . . .

Well - got to have a purple one!

This was taken a day or two after I brought it back in May, and it's now looking rather muckier and doing sterling service as regular transport mostly on Welsh back roads and lanes.

Cheers,
Graham

This is Esperance. She took me and the wife the length of South and Central America (30,000 miles over 15 months) last year.

Only real problems we had were:
- Sheered front brake pipe (due to rough roads in boliva and the fact the pipe was not supported midway)
- Leaking neutral switch
- Gear selector spring failed (luckily Steptoe had wisely provided us with a spare - as it had gone just 2 weeks before being shipped!)

All in all an incredible bike; even two up and loaded to the eyeballs she could still tackle the most demanding terrain. This photo is taken 4000m above sea level on the Bolivian Altiplano:

Having washed it after a day in the cack, the sun came out and so did the camera - here it is in its 'comfort' touring mode - which I use for the daily M3 commute, as opposed to the single seat and alloy panniers for when I want to pretend I've been somewhere rather special.
'93 GSPD that started life with only 800cc but after 30k was upgraded to a nice round 1,000cc twice in 12 months by Richard Difazio for the previous owner (once using the existing 32mm carbs etc and once properly with new 40mm bits throughout and a correct bevel drive). It has done about 10k in the revised format
It also has an upgraded front brake, progressive springs, Hagon shock horror, Wudo sump rather than oil cooler (yes you do lose a bit of ground clearance), Keihan exhaust system, noisey horns and various other bits and pieces that the keen eyed amongst you will, no doubt, spot especially the bracketry that allows the screen to move up and forward by a couple of inches making high speed progress a lot easier on the buffeting front. :)
