Once again we are planning a weekend away in Croatia at the end of September. The plan is to rent a house (or two) in Rovinj for the last weekend in September. Rovinj is a lovely coastal town, a little overrun with tourists in summer but more relaxed at the end of September. The climate is perfect at that time of year with daytime temperatures in the mid to high twenties.

We will leave from here on Thursday 26th for the ride to Rovinj, fantastic roads, maybe lunch by the Adriatic and then on to Rovinj by late afternoon. We will return here either on the Sunday or the Monday (depending on commitments)

Anyone wishing to come along would be very welcome, you would need to arrive here at the latest on Wednesday 25th to allow for an early start on Thursday. Costs for the weekend will be the price of the rented accommodation plus food, divided by the number of people. Last year it worked out at around 50 Euros a head but that was for two nights only. This weekend is non profit making for us, we just want to chill out by the sea with good people. Staying at our place before and after will be at our normal rates.

We will be booking the accommodation soon so could anyone interested please get in touch so we have an idea of numbers.

Would do it but time (and work) get in the way.
 
Won't be able to make the trip, as we are retuning from Greece mid September but will happily take the tip and pop into Rovinj en route.:thumb

P.S. John we are still planing on calling by on our way through.

Just returned from a few days with john, great place with great roads - stop a few extra days with him if you're thinking of going
 
If anyone is interested we have someone coming for this event who would like a travelling companion. He is coming from Cornwall and plans to arrive at our place on Monday 23rd September-giving a few days to both recover from the journey and explore a bit of our region (he has been here twice before)

He has yet to book his ferry or tunnel so is flexible on that score. last time he came via Roscoff but he says the distance is the same if he goes via Dover.

If anyone is interested let me know and I can put you in touch with the man himself.

Wish i had known a bit earlier, a week to late for me and my brother as we have returned to UK the weekend before.

Will be in touch shortly John, leaving UK on 7th September and we heading to Austria etc for two weeks if you have room for two old men for a few nights
 
not this year for me either john, I will be in the USA Sept/Oct. Will definitely be stopping at yours next year though, as the Mrs wants to go to Croatia:beerjug:

We are pretty much full on 7th but should be OK from then on. Let me know as soon as you can when you plan to arrive please

Enjoy the trip, I have not forgotten that you have a deposit paid on your next visit.

If your jaunt to the Adriatic is an annual affair each September, can you pencil me in for 2014 please.

I always think md-September is a great time to go away, particularly for anyone whose days of having to match in with the kids' school holidays are behind them.

As a thought (and with haf an eye on room space) I might suggest working it into a broader Wander for 2014, including a stop-off with you in Malta, if that works? If it does, maybe we could get some provisional dates into the diary for 2014, then see if we can tidy things up in Q1 and Q2 of next year.

Do you come over for the London Excel motorcycle show in February? If so, so maybe we could get together?

We do hope to make it an annual event so consider yourself pencilled in.

As for a tour coming here, we would be delighted, plenty to do in the area and I might just have to tag along so that you don't get lost!

Just so I vaguely have something in mind, shall we go for a similar Thursday in September 2014 as a possible date to depart from Malta for the Adriatic, returning back say say four to five days later? Sometime around Thursday 25th to set off?

Sounds about right, you would need to be here at least the night before so we can make an early start on the Thursday morning as its around a six hour ride (excluding stops)

We're going to Croatia Sept '14. Looking to stay on one of the Islands then heading to Split and crossing to Italy on the way back.

Looking forward to it.:)
