Here you are Micky. Early 1960's Gloucestershire Constabulary Standard Riding Course. Before my time, but not by much.............
My father rode an LE, & later an Ariel Leader, which was quite an advanced concept, but I still lusted after the Speed Twin in Amaranth red he'd once had in the garage..........

I've got an ex-GlosPol BSA Fleetstar in my garage.

This seems to have morphed into a nostalgia thread....so I'll stick these up again from the Leicestershire Police Traffic archive

Maurice Tidmarsh... Used to run the Kamikaze motorcycle display team :)

I loved those old Avon fairings on the pre-R100RT bikes - built like an ocean liner - probably weighed as much as the engine... :p

I helped our former Fleet Manager (now retired) whilst he removed the fairing from an ex-Wilts bike. You would not believe how heavy they were, with fittings made from girders..........

1976, the "hot summer" & well over 90F in Cheltenham......

Note the ATGAAT approach. Mind you, as the official summer wear was an ordinary tunic, I don't think it really mattered.

My first summer in the job - driving a panda around Clifton, Bristol. Stiflingly hot at midnight - the first time we were permitted to remove ties in 'Shirt-sleeve Order'...

1976 - now that was a brilliant summer for biking - I remember it well!
Honda CB750F1 year.

I enjoy reading this :D We have an ex motorcyclist and dog handler in the club. Retired now but I like to listen to the stories there is to tell.

I was wondering why it was called the Noddy Bike and Googled it before asking on here. Very interesting :D

I'm gonna steal that bit of info you posted MartynH to enrich the local club members knowledge. Once again thanks.

Could I just say....none of you fuckers have tried this on a big old Harley, have ya? Both brakes hauled on until you eventually stop...then don't bother trying to find neutral with a hot box...it ain't never gonna happen.....

At least your radios were positioned behind you. Ours were telephone handsets mounted sideways on the top of the tank. It became quite natural to stand up a bit if someone looked like they were going to pull out on you :rob
