80% made in china apparently. And only assembled in Germany. That's a lot of wonga for a Chinese bike and explains the piss poor quality issues

The non Chinese parts include, brakes, exhaust, tyres.
 
Just a sign of the times Rob, most stuff made in China these days :blast

When the Chinese workers rebel, and request better wages etc, they'll get the bikes made elsewhere ,:blagblah

I noticed on some of my wiring ,the tags say made in Thaiwan they're not trying to hide the fact, so who cares, so long as the parts are up to the German Quality Control,

I've had the left hand flasher switch break , the front screen crack, both clear and tinted, and the rear brake pads worn out prematurely all replaced under warranty, I've now put on 7,000 fantastic smiles, :D

And if it was stolen/damaged i'd go out buy another one tomorrow :thumby:

Yes I agree they are expensive , But we're not forced to buy one are we ;)
 
Made to German quality control? That'd be a first....

Off to China for the 15th time next month to sort out quality issues. We have several parts which used to last 20+ years when made in Germany which are failing within a couple of years now they're made in China and some major failures in parts which should last forever :mad:

Their wages are now about the same as Eastern Europe, so it'll either be off to India next or bringing production back to Europe (hopefully).
 
When Obama hits the button this week and the chinks and ruskies hold hands it will be interesting to see how quickly many normal everyday use items become OOS:blast
 
I didn't like the idea when Naim Audio started to get some of its electronics made in China. But, they work fine, are superb quality and still top end HiFi. Sign of the times :rob
 
I couldn't care less where its made, sign of the times I'm afraid.:rob Would I have another? No.:P:D

Rob - my Scrambler is largely made and definitely assembled in Thailand - strangely enough it does not affect in any way my enjoyment of the bike ;)

Any of our suppliers wouldn't have been given 15 chances - you should have found a new supplier a long time ago.

Is it fuck ! Like another contributer to this thread, I'm off to China to sort out the mess they've got themselves using Chinese fabricated equipment. Building to any decent quality is not in their genetic make-up...a result of their past and current regime and population....

I didn't mean that Chinese products are sometimes poor quality, but it is a myth that the WC has lots of quality issues.

I'm sure that HD are in a very similar situation...

As long as they can claim 'Assembled in the USA' to keep the 'faithful' happy :augie

Just another good reason to buy pre millenium (or so) bikes :thumb2

Let's hope you are crap at your job ( you've been back 15 times already so there's hope ) and that the Chinese never get the hang of quality control.

Maybe then we'll get a chance of a few more manufacturing jobs in this country

I ain't knocking the bike, I like it, but your blind allegiance to the BWM brand 'that can do no wrong' is as blinkered as those that knock the bike 'cos they don't like change or 'cos it's made in a foreign country other than Germany :rob

NAIM, Ahh but I see you location is Salisbury so keeping things very local :D

Personally I went the Linn KLIMAX route, but importantly both MADE IN BRITAIN if not totally manufactured here :thumb2
