Posada - Monasterio de Santa María La Real is a short walk from the centre of the pleasant town of Aguilar de Campoo, sitting in the Ebro valley between the Picos and the Sierra del Escudo.
The hotel is set in a very nice location next to the Monastery. The cafe/bar is good and the half board rate was decent value.
The room was not great. It was in the roof space above the cafe. Very small, and the beds were up some steps above the bathroom. There are some more conventional rooms so make sure you know what you are booking. The website makes it clear
A de C would be a good base to tour from if you want to explore roads east of the Picos. They are really very special and quieter. Just look at the roads going in different directions from Vega de Pas or Cervera de Pisuerga.
