I picked up some copies of ’Dorset the county magazine’ at a National Trust stall a few months ago. One from 1972 had an article about Dorsets secret roads, many around west Dorset. It seems that there were the same issues on road maintenance 50 years ago! Posting the pages here as I found them interesting and thought others might, I think most of the unclassified county roads are still there and their status the same.

Fascinating thank you.
I feel a wander coming on....

I ride several of those roads regularly.

Fortunately the authors calls for tarmacking them have mostly gone unheeded by Dorset Council.
