After 10000 miles i needed a new chain and Sprockets so i had them done

Riding home the gear indication on the dash stops working and an engine fault light is thrown up

Some diagnostics say the gear position sensor is out of kilter which is apparently often as a result of the pressure on the drive spindle when torquing up the sprocket nut so a reset was performed

This did not cure the problem as shortly after the bike re learned the gear positions it went wonky again

So although the bike is still under warranty the dealers cant do it for a month ! so for the sake of £50 it will be done on thursday at my expense

When we were ordring the part Moto Rapido ( ducati parts) said they pretty much sell one with every chain and sprocket set as that is when they usually fail but only after they get hot so most people ride away with it working and it fails a few miles down the road

The new kit has a cooling shroud thing to stop the sensor getting hot Saw broken.jpg

It is a shit design

Got to love the Italians

That's almost a "they all do that sir" situation!!

Great that you've done 10000 miles, puts me to shame!!!Only seems like yesterday that you bought the bike, good on ya (y)

Interestingly ( or not) the chain and sprockets which are the originals, the sprockets were still looking pretty good but the chain had streched over 3 inches

Had to have a new QS at my last chain and sprocket too , coincidence?
