► Post pics of your F650/800GS

Did you fit them yourself Sgt? I have have a set ready to be fitted and toying with DIY or friendly specialist for about £120.

I did them myself and it's fairly straightforward but if you are unsure, get someone to do it. I will admit to doing it in my mates garage and he runs 3 Superstock 1000 Suzuki's in BSB and he knows more about bikes than most people have forgotten. He just checked it for me and it was all good.

If you go on youtube there are a couple of tutorials and just make sure you put the correct oil level in which is marked on the Hyperpro box.

Cheers Chris, I'm assuming its a fork out job, my specialist reckons he can do it in situ, but may have equipment to suck out the old oil that I don't. Like your mate he is an ex BSB/WSS/BSS tech.

Tempted to chuck him £100 and have done.

I took the forks out but I'm sure it can be done in situ by a grown up :D.

Just come back to and F800GS and loving it. Getting the 24k service done next week and some new tyres. 2010 orange with 23k miles on. Belive its got the hyperpro spings in front and rear to lower it but feels much better on the road and the engine is sweet as a nut. Great condition for its age and coming from the royal enfield himalayan a real treat having heating grips and handguards :)

Only slight problem I have is I'm struggling to fit my GiviS310 spots to the big as the SW motech bars are just too FAT.

Awhile ago I noticed that the two stands on my GS were getting a bit rusty. Really only surface rust, but still rusty, due to the bike being lower than standard and having the stands shortened to match. So I got a rattle can of black anti-rust paint with the intention to sort it out. But then when I was giving it a wash I started to see all the other things that were also going rusty. The crash protection, sump guard, the rider’s foot rests, brake pedal, gear lever, etc etc. Quickly got to the point where it was way passed being done with a rattle can.
Since it was also coming up to the 124,000 mile service I asked the nice people at the bike shop if they knew a bead blaster and painters. Which they do. So they’ve had the bike for 10 days and expect to have it done by the end of April. That’s a couple of weeks for the bead blasting, a couple of weeks for the paint, and then them putting it all back together and doing the service.
Meanwhile it’s in a corner of their showroom lent forlornly against the wall.

@SuperTed I've got the same issue with corroded stands - I need to find a week where I won't need the bike and plan to run everything up to my local powder coating place. Mind you, my 13 plate GSA only has 16k on the clock (blame a previous owner who lived in Australia and kept a bike in Cumbria for occasional visits!)

Anyway, here she is - bought last summer, loved ever since. A few farkles - the best being a Samsung Tablet running DMD2. She's had a fairly tough life despite low mileage, with lots of the TET under her belt with the PO. Knobblies likely to be changed for something less aggressive when they've worn a little more. Aliexpress headlight is a pretty good upgrade.

That’s a very nice bike, Si. I have a similar headlight unit on order at the moment, I have always thought the standard headlight was a weak point of the bike but didn’t know you could get an LED unit until I saw an F8GS at a BMW Club lunch meeting with one fitted. Having spoken to the owner it was on order that night.

You'll notice a vast improvement to light output. I feel it's also safer during the day with the DRL and foglights on. My light does fog up after while - I'd imagine there is a way to open the back of the unit and let the moisture out.

I had a HID off Les Wassell on here on my F650. That transformed the night riding with its bold white beam. However when I part exed the bike the mot stations were getting funny about beam distortion, I notice in many of my old bikes mot history beam pattern was picked up as an advisory.

These new Led ‘s just move the game along. How much are they and do you get any canbus errors ? My F700 could do with an upgrade.
