I skipped over a run to Ullapool a couple of weeks ago with my lad. Glorious weather for 2 days and quiet roads meant fantastic riding.

Only dampener was a plugged rear tyre letting go a mile from hotel. Re-plugged it and came home next day straight down the boring A9.

Squeezed in the Scottish National Rally first weekend of the month for 1200 miles over 4 days - with a new tyre.

Roll on 2 weeks after a good rest, today was brill down to St Mary’s Loch and back.

How good is a deserted road to/from Yarrow - Moffat - Biggar - Broughton - Carnwath - Briech and home.

But it’s getting cool out there.

Did a 120 mile loop today with the Mrs down to the borders. The roads were very quiet and the scenery was beautiful. At one point the temp plummeted to 6C and heated seats were most appreciated.

Had a run out from Thurso today, around by Durness, down the Laxford Bridge to Lairg route, then Rogart and finally a plod back up the A9.
About 215 miles.
Weather was fine if a tad windy around Cape Wrath.
What was very pleasing was the lack of traffic.
Here is Arkle in all its glory.

I was up that way this time last year, and the roads were really busy with car-dick clubs, especially around Clach Toll and Drumbeg where I was very nearly forced off the road twice by oncoming boy racers.
The upside I see is that if you found it quiet, things post co-vid may be returning to normality.

Virtually no traffic on many of the roads in the far north that I was on today.
This is looking across Loch Naver on the Syre - Altnaharra road (B873) to Ben Kilbreck.
Fine wee fresh 160miler, non stop c3.5 hrs.

aye, been past on the bike a few times. also when i was young i remember trying to get into a lassie's knickers around there. :D

A planned job was cancelled so I jumped on the bike as the weather looked as good as it gets these days. Positively mild. Didn’t even switch the hot vest on.

Saw a surprising number of bikes though.

Enjoyed the wee cafe at the end of Aberfoyle Main Street.

I reckon that’ll be my “summer riding season” over. It’s been a reasonable innings with 6K this year inc. a Euro trip.

And I know the dash pic is childish, but I couldn’t resist as I rolled in for fuel near home.

ps - the new-to-me GIVI box is the PITA I knew it would be as you can’t ride with it unlocked.

(and the pics got shuffled automatically)

Weather forecast was good, although tad cool at start of day 5C, but warmed up nicely to 14-15C as our run unfolded.
Went south down to Garve, then Kinlochewe, Poolewe, stop at Ullapool for some scoff, back to Lairg then home to Thurso.
The roads were near empty, certainly no traffic to speak of. Roads in excellent condition and plenty of autumnal sun.
All in round trip of 340miles. A really nice day out. :thumb2

Touristy shot from yesterdays bimble . . .
301022-TormoreDistillery.jpg

I'd headed west, but the further west of the A9 I got, the wetter the sky became, so I headed back towards Moray, where the roads were dry and the sun shining :D
