My lads first year on his Oset

I'm reading the Graham Jarvis bio at the moment which is really good. My son was younger that grimbo and Dougie but attended most of the nationals he talks about in his book. It brought some great memories flooding back of the Scarborough international youth 2 day, and the inter centre team trials. I envy you at the start of your lads journey, hope you both get as much pleasure as we did and cement a good healthy lad & dad relationship.

Been a bit quiet lately but we went down to the Ripon motor club presentation night at Harrogate on Saturday where he picked up his second place award for the Acklams Beta summer series.
We haven’t been out on the bikes much due to the dark evenings and other commitments but the nights are getting lighter so hopefully get some bike time soon. The little medium wheel Beta will be getting upgraded to a full size 80cc and he’ll be on that until he’s twelve when he can get a 125. I’ll be wobbling around with him on my old Rev 3 so looking forward to it all.

Practice area at Croft has opened with restrictions on the amount of bikes so we had a look out today just to get some bike time in. Going to stick with the little Beta 80 until a good 125 comes along and use any events as practice as the ACU rules mean he can’t ride a 125 competitively until next year.
Just messed about for a couple of hours getting used to the bikes again as we hadn’t ridden since October.

Unlimited access to the practice area from June 1st so that’s good.

One thing I have noticed since I’ve been looking to upgrade his bike is that there seems to be a lot more people buying trials bikes at the moment. Anything around the 2k Mark is snapped up within hours on eBay and the FB page. Makes me wonder where people are riding them because we have been more or less grounded for the best part of this year.

Mainly around their back gardens, according to all the FB posts I've seen! I found that my garden isn't quite big enough, unless I move all SWMBO's plants, which of course I'm not allowed to do. :D

Long overdue update.
We were unable to get out on the trials bike over the lockdown and the MTB got all the attention. He can wheelie and do all the stuff you wished you could do on a push bike now which is great and a transferable skill for when the trials get going again BUT I haven’t been able to find him a decent 125 unfortunately.
