BMW Venture grip boots, coming up small

I'm normally a Euro 43, U.K. 9 in everything but tried the 43 on in the venture grip boots and I struggled to get my foot in let alone be comfortable!

Anyone else found this? Maybe it was a duff pair or wrongly labled.
They didn't have a 44 in stock to try so will be ordering online, significantly cheaper that way too.
