I've been leant a Garmin 370 and the Maps are out of date, the map SD card isn't an original Garmin one so what happens if I buy the map updates from Garmin? Or how else do I update the maps?

OK, you have been lent 2007 Garmin Nuvi 370 Car SatNav with outdated maps.

It is a very kind gesture, but for £45 you can buy this modern car SatNav with free lifetime map updates and save yourself a lot of hassle.

Must have the number wrong, its definitely a bike Garmin and I thought it was a 370 but being at work and not having it to hand could be wrong.:blast

download Garmin Express to your computer and then connect the device to the computer via USB or wifi if that is present on the device
https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=IB1TjAKZso2F6mKr3hYqy9

Assuming the device is compatible with Express, you will be told if an update is available for free (many devices have lifetime updates) or needs a fee paid.

Its £40 odd quid for the update but with it not being the orginal card wasn't sure it'd work and didn't want to waste the money - oh and its a Zumo 400

that is a device that came onto the market in 2006 (date of the online manual at https://www.activegps.co.uk/user-manuals/garmin-zumo-400-450-owners-manual.pdf )

If you are adamant you want to rely on such an aged device then look at http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ for an Open Spurce Map solution for free

Personally, I would get something more recent. I learnt this when trying to keep a Garmin 2610 current - as map data got more complex, the processor just could not manage and there were delays in screen updates that led to frustration.
