We've just got back from four days/three nights near Gedinne in the Belgian Ardennes.

We umm-ed and aah-ed about whether to take the bike or car, in the knowledge that it might be chilly and wet. As it turned out we made the correct decision and took the car. Some serious rain ...

On the positive side, the trees looked amazing and a long walk in the woods was a fantastic break. It is a very rural area indeed.

We stayed at a B&S called Le Secret du Bois in Bourseigne-Vieille. Lovely old building, not a level floor in the place, and not a place for tall people (ouch!). And quite isolated and rural, which was perfect for a short break but might get tedious for longer. Handily placed for Gedinne, where they hold road races in the summer, and lots of beautiful roads and scenery.

That’s an acceptable enough excuse. I’d have been a touch sarcastic if you’d done a lap but omitted the chicane a couple of hundred yards past the start/finish line because it’d be like claiming to do a lap of the Mountain Circuit but missing out Governors Loop even though it’s considered to be a bit naughty by the IoM plod 😀

It’s got a lot busier over the last couple of years so either book a B&B early or if camping don’t expect to rock up late Friday afternoon and get a decent spot.

It’s still worth going but I think if we go next year we’ll be getting there on the Thursday afternoon then mess about on the pushbikes visiting alternative watering holes :beerjug:
