I dare say that an LED headlight is not much cheaper to manufacture than a bulbed headlight. Natrually punters are happy to pay a premium for the improved lighting.

As the electical load is lower with LED, then a much less powerful (and therefore more compact) alternator is required -saving the manufacturers money. Even the little scooters are moving to LED for the same reason
