I’ve had a DRZ400e in the past and enjoyed it
There seem few bikes like it for durability and low ownership costs
So what do you all recommend ? Or do I hang on for a nice low miles DRZ again?
I could probably never do justice to a KTM or Husky although I like them and am practical with a great workshop and tools
Would get on road/ light off-road use
Cheers

I went from a DRZE to a 525XC

I used to crash the DRZ at least twice every time I rode it. I never crashed the KTM once in 4000 miles of ownership and the KTM never let me down once which sadly the DRZ did ;)

Last of the air cooled, big bore Japanese, dual sports. Not sure if they’ll even be available here after this year.

The price of DRZ 400 is going up. Very few good S models around for sale and E models are even more difficult to source and command a good price.

If you are not doing too many road miles and are happy to service a bit more regularly a KTM exc 350 or 450 would be worth considering. Or a Yamaha WR 450.

Unless you feel flush to go for a Honda crf450L.

Well, the deal is done
A 3400 mile DRZ 400S in nice all round condition from a private sale
Was sorely tempted by a total minter of a KTM 520 Exc at moto corsa that I saw the other day but it was £2k moreand frankly TOO nice for what I wanted
Thanks for all the input, bottom line is I played safe, I think....
