Hi All,

I was a bit surprised you can't buy a protector for the (no doubt) expensive to replace camera that's right in "Stone Chip Alley", so did a bit of Googling.

Someone made one with some heatshrink & a glass watch lens.

I knocked up one on my 3D printer if anyone else has one & needs a protector!

File & pics HERE

If you don't have one, the heatshrink method is still available!

Did u drill a hole or is it glued to through your front beak?

There are better places than that to install the front camera.

Having had the K1 & now the K2 for six years in total I have never had a stone chip on the lens. Maybe I have been lucky. It's actually a very small area and you'd have to be very unlucky. However, kamekaze insects is an altogether different matter and for that reason alone, a very useful protector. The cleaning of the lens (unless you are extremely careful) will, in time, scratch it. Whilst made of a durable quality glass (no-one can accuse Rock of using second rate materials, just second rate software), the glass can also be "etched" by the acids present in the bodily fluids of the instects with time.

I might try the heat-shrink idea.

Thanks.

If you are concerned about scratching etc then rather than a 'normal' watch glass buy sapphire glass, much tougher and better scratch resistance.
