New bikes for 2022

That'll be this thing then I imagine, 500 twin ~ sorta like a baby 750 crossed with a Cagiva Elefant to my eyes.

I'm still holding out for the 901 Norden though, that just looks soooooo cool to my eyes :)

Yet here we are in 2020 and they still can't produce a gasket that doesn't leak.

Funnily enough I’ve yet to have a bike with a KTM engine suffer from gasket failure :nenau

Yes, I know I’ve just written the death sentence for my bike and I don’t have any warranty because it’s considered a competition model :D

Most on here can’t keep their own weight below 150kg so a few kilos either way probably won’t matter that much

It starts to if you have to pick both of them up a few times a day.

What I canny understand is it's a known issue with my model, they have had probably thousands done under warranty but yet they still can't fix it at the beginning, in 2020 ffs.

Not interested. I’m Ducati’s bitch now. :D

That’ll get the dribblers discussing lightweight adventure bikes again but if they can’t get the weight below 150kg it won’t count as being lightweight in my eyes.

+1

The DRZ400S was about 140kg, people go on about the CRF250L being light - it's heavier than the fucking DR, with less than half the power, in facts its heavier than the 690 KTM / 701 Husky that both weigh in around 140.

The CRF450L is a more reasonable 130, but costs £10k and has a poxy 23BHP - about half of my FE 350 Husky.

You can see why people like to convert the KTM / Husky 500's, they cost about the same as the Honda, weigh 20KG less and have almost 3 times the power, but you could also consider the 690 / 701 over the Honda as they will probably better road bikes.

Had they got the KTM 790 down to 150KG I reckon it would of been perfect, at @170KG it is still a heavy beast for anything much more than gravel tracks and hard packed dirt tracks (Unless you are Chris Birch)

The ideal bike is the 690 R but with a wide ration box and a rear subframe

If KTM used a gear set like the one from Nova Racing it would be perfect

If the 690/701 models had been 15-20kg lighter that’s where my money would have gone and I wouldn’t have needed to spend as much to get my 501 to where I wanted it.

As already stated, even 150kg starts to get a bit much when you’re having to drag it out of weeds on your own and it might sound a bit crude but I can lie my 501on it’s side to get a wheel out if I need to. That’s a major advantage if you’ve got sticks for arms and legs :D

I agree I have the Nova box with my 732 engine
