Spotted this beauty last weekend in a Dorchester car park, 1948 600cc Panther sloper. Had a chat with the owner who bought it from a collection and it had not turned a wheel for 30 years. All seals, gaskets etc had to be replaced and now it runs perfectly and oil tight. Owner also has a 1970s Commando and an 1150 GS.

Cleckheaton's finest.

True story...When I was circa 13 years old, I owned a 350 Panther. It was nothing like those 'slopers' but it was a shit scary thing to ride on grass fields (on ancient road rubber) when you're 13.

That was nearly 50 years ago...it was the done thing in Yorkshire (and probably everywhere else) back then...:)

A friend’s father .....

... has been working on this

Voyager to the Panther phone. Voyager to the Panther phone!

You called ??

Yup, I am still (supposedly) working on my 1931 M50 Panther - just too many other projects on the go at the moment :blast.

I'm not a million miles from starting the assembly, one day there will be a picture here.

That's a nice looking M100, he's done a good job on it.

Bob.

Those sloper engines are so distinctive. They give the appearance of having about a 300mm stroke. Love em.

Lovely looking thing indeed, Bob. Chrome and yellow always looks good. Trident T150s for example ... :drool

I’m probably going to upset some folks but hey ho. I think that chopped Panther looks great and it’s no way sacrilege. As said, loads of Panthers were condemned to haul around huge Busmar DA sidecars, very much utility as opposed to fun. The chopped version looks fun. I’m with Andres on the forks though.
