In a few weeks I will be heading to Osmotherley with a few mates to do some road cycling in the NYM National Park.

What are the must-see sites? Any particularly brilliant coffee stops? Pubs in/near Osmotherley? Best chips??? :D

Excellent!! I assume there'll be plenty of Black Sheep ale too. You have to be careful to re-hydrate fully after a cycle, you know.....

I'd plan a visit to The Star Inn at Harome....and spend some time cycling round the Howardian Hills rather than NYMNP, it is likely to have quieter roads with stunning scenery and a visit to the cafe at Castle Howard is do-able, as is the superb bakery at Hovingham (I called 3 weeks ago and simply asked the lady for 4 buns/cakes and 2 coffees...she chose the buns...all were superb.

Masham then ...... home of Black Sheep and others plus Bordar Cafe (yes I have spelt it correctly) White horse fish and chips at Thirsk or
Riverside fish and chips Whitby which is on the old side near the boat yard --Forget Trenchers The Magpie or Mr Chips they are over hyped and just for the gullible tourists, Golden Lion and Queens Head both nice pubs with good food in Ozzy lots of good village pubs to try in surrounding area Borrowby/ Thornton Le Beans / Nether Silton

If you Go to the Crosby at Thornton Le Beans give me a shout I live opposite

If you do fish and chips in Whitby,(everyone seems to like Magpie...) protect your purchase!
Got mugged and lost half the fish, most of the chips and my wooden fork......effin’ seagulls!

They left us well alone when we went a few years ago. I did buy them their own portion of chips and scraps though.

Brewery - Black Sheep and Theakstons in Masham both worth a visit, would be a good ride too.
Fab in Yorskshire, as many other places, Enjoy
