If you guys have been wild camped in Spain, what is the deal with it?

I know there are many beautiful places to set up a tent for the night, but how about the troubles?

I'm interested in looking of the all lakes and dams, then find a nice spot for the night to enjoy the nature.

Does anyone have any experience, tips, and advice with this or something similar?

Many thanks!

Arrive late, leave early, be discrete, don’t leave any mess, and you’ll have no problems.

I've read somewhere that it's fine but groups no bigger than 3, which could be pushed I suppose.

The only thing I'd say, is don't even think of having a fire. They have water availability issues and vast areas of dry countryside.

Done it for 3 months on the bike with me Mrs, not once did we get away with it

Only kidding, it was fine and plenty of places to do it. Spanish police are more about reality then rules or the way of life in their words, but if you break the code ie leave trash, be noisy, upset locals be expected to be on the wrong side of them, usually fined and moved on but if you're respectful, you may even end up going surfing with them!
