I have done my best to edit this thread to limit it to just your first problem, that of installing a certain version of BaseCamp onto your PC.
Your parallel post on the problems your PC / BaseCamp is having with your new Navigator VI ‘Refresh version’, I have left basically alone, with just a tiny bit of editing.
Whether the two problems are interconnected or separate is hard to tell. My guess is that they are maybe somehow interrelated. Why? We are not seeing posts from bods saying that they are having trouble loading the latest versions of BaseCamp onto their PC’s. Similarly, we are not seeing posts from bods, saying that their new ‘Refresh’ Nav VI is causing BaseCamp to crash. Maybe cure the problem of the loading of BaseCamp version XYZ first, to then see if that fixes the Nav VI ‘Refresh’ problem. That way, you are at least dealing with one problem at a time. Starting with BaseCamp is at least logical, to me at least.
Me, who knows nothing about PC’s or IT type issues? I’d start by:
1. Saving any BaseCamp routes or favourites you might want to keep.
2. Delete BaseCamp from your PC entirely and run any ‘clean up’ software you might have, to make sure it’s gone.
3. Download BaseCamp again from the official Garmin site, following its installation instructions to the letter.
4. Let Garmin install all the BaseCamp updates and fixes it needs to do.
Does that fix the installation problem? If so, then proceed with the Nav VI ‘Refresh version’ issue.
