So I managed to lose the only key I had for my DRZ yesterday evening after putting it into the garage.
That's a record because I only had the bike for a few weeks and yesterday was my actual first proper ride... :D
The little plate with the number (for extra key cutting) was on the keyring...

Anyway. The bike is locked and safe in the garage and I'm looking at the options.
Best way forward would seem to me:

- remove ignition barrel
- add a simple on/off switch to turn the ignition on
- take some time to find an original ignition barrel and keys and rewire it all at a later date (so insurance is happy)

Now, questions:

Is there an electrical scheme I can find?
Is there any way to re-create the keys using the existing barrel (are those coded)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A universal ignition switch with 2 keys will only cost around a tenner.

Yes, just check it has the same number of wires as your's....oh and I would upgrade to gaffa tape :D
