Heading off to Hull to catch the ferry to Rotterdam. Meeting up with Von Stolberg of this parish and a mutual good friend of ours. The plan is to rendezvous tomorrow in Tilburg, which just happens to have a Louis, and then make Nuremberg by tomorrow evening. Very regrettably our good mate, the living legend that is Fluffmeister, trip organiser and StraßenOberst, is unable to make this trip due to unforeseen circumstances. Gutted is an understatement. So, we are dedicating the trip to him.

From Nuremberg we're heading into Austria for a few days then taking a lazy route back up through Schwarzwald, Bastogne etc. Nothing groundbreaking, we are just glad to be doing a trip at all this year.

Ok got a ferry to catch!

Sounds good. Have a good trip.

At the terminal now. On the roof waiting to board and I spy a 3" screwdriver shank or something, sticking out the sidewall.

All hail the Enduristan toolkit. Glad I wasn't attempting an inner tube repair up here in the 20mph breeze.

Ooh Shit. That's not looking good. Tyre looks new. Hope you can get it fixed ok.

Yep the Anakee has about 300 miles on it. Got it out with the pliers and the TPMS tells me it's still at 40psi so all good. Some nerfing of the tread block but should be ok.

Good Result. Have a safe trip. Popcorn at the ready!!!!!!

Keep a twice daily (at least ) check on that tyre incase there is any sidewall carcass damage and it starts to bulge

Thanks mate, I’m gutted I’m not there, especially after the planning, but once I’ve got this Prostate problem beaten, I’ll be back next year.

Following with interest Ferry looks busy.

Cheers Neil I will be watching that sidewall closely. Got a TPMS monitor on the ATAT so that will tell me on any pressure loss to the inner tube. Looking at it closely it seems to have gone straight through a thread block, and the good thing with the Anakins is their KitKat levels of chunkiness. Don't think it's gone near the carcass but as you say best be cautious.

Waking up on the approach to Rotterdam. Crossing was fine but there's a jolt every time the props turn or something, which is like someone tapping you on the head every few seconds. All night. Had to take some nurofen around 3am but feeling good now.

First officially sanctioned food shot of the trip. Accept no imitations.

You've got this

Bit of a slog today to get to Austria by day 2. 700km or thereabouts. Met up with Von Stolberg at Louis megashop in Tilburg, a quick shop then on with it. Stopped near Frankfurt and again best Wurzburg but a fairly uneventful day rattling the miles off. Plenty of roadworks but some nice sustained 200kmh on the autobahn in places. Just landed at Nuremberg old town and bier will be happening shortly

Nuremberg Altstadt. Red light district just around the corner. What has been seen cannot be unseen.
