I am in the market for a phone holder to hold a waterproof rugged phone (typically beefier and deeper than ordinary phones).
What holders would you recommend? Since the phone is waterproof I won't be enclosing it in a waterproof case (which typically makes the screen less visible and causes to phone to overheat).
Ideally I'd want something that can be installed on a Ram ball.

- The Ram x-grip with the rubbery thing you must strap to each of the 4 corners of the phone doesn't seem very convincing.
- The Quadlock seems a great system, but you need a phone-specific case; their universal sticky pad won't stick to TPU or silicon cases
- The American Perfect Squeeze gets excellent reviews on Advrider but is very, very expensive
- Ultimate Addons has phone-specific cases, but not for rugged phones, plus I'd rather keep the phone outside of a case that makes it overheat
- Givi and Motech only make holders with a closed waterproof case, so no
- SP Connect is similar to Quadlock (so not good because there are no cases for rugged phones), but more expensive
- Sena makes the Powerpro mount, but it's expensive
